I considered it a commentary on how competitive gaming really is different if you're a male and if you're a female. Still, I think that's quite interesting, and a nice little touch. Your choice of sex does have an impact on the events in the game, although I didn't play the male version much as the story is pretty much the same, anyway.

The story wholly focuses on the challenges and journey of becoming a professional competitive gamer, which is only proper as that's the main premise of the game. For one, it's not a dating sim, nor are there any romanceable characters (which surprisingly isn't a bummer for me, although it would've been cool to have romanceable characters in a game set in the world of gaming). I think the story is refreshing in a sense that it's not like your typical OELVN. I have to admit that I may be a bit biased, being a gamer myself, but I really can't hide my enthusiasm at getting a peek into the world of competitive gaming, especially in South Korea. In fact, I enjoyed it so much that I even decided to write a whole feature post about it. I greatly enjoyed the story and writing in this visual novel. More specifically, it's about a young woman (or man) named Mach, who made the decision to move to South Korea in order to pursue her dream of becoming a professional competitive gamer. If the title didn't give it away yet, SC2VN is a story about the real-time strategy game, StarCraft 2. What I like the most is that they actually affect the story in big ways, so you have to think clearly before making your choice. There are some choices in the game, but they’re very few and far in between. Now, I can’t say I would do the same if I were him, but I do understand how he would do whatever he could, even if that meant he had to kill, in order to keep her in his world. In his world filled with nothing but horror, the only beautiful thing he could see, literally, was Saya. In a way, Fuminori is the real monster here. Most of the visual novel was written in Fuminori’s perspective, and it was obvious to see just how messed up his character was.
The story was quite gripping and the writer/s did a good job of keeping Saya mysterious enough for me to grit my teeth through all the horrid things just so I could know the actual story behind her. I’m not sure if I can use the word ‘enjoy’ or even ‘like’ properly considering the story, but let’s just say that I don’t think this was a waste of time.
